“Do it for Drayke” Against Bullying

Sad boy at school, surrounded by other children pointing and laughing at him. The scene is in deep violet tones, with the hashtag "#doitfordrayke"

On February 10, 2022, the world lost a young soul, Drayke Hardman, who, at the tender age of 12, tragically decided to end his life after enduring more than a year of relentless physical and psychological bullying at school by his classmates. This heartbreaking incident has left an indelible mark on Drayke's family, who are grappling with the unimaginable pain of losing their beloved child.

Drayke was a 12-year-old boy with a bright future ahead of him, surrounded by a loving family, but the relentless torment he faced became unbearable. Despite the unwavering support of his family, he found himself trapped in a dark place, unable to endure the pain any longer.

His sisters made a horrifying discovery when they found Drayke in his room, having attempted to take his own life using a piece of clothing. Rushed to the nearest hospital, Drayke passed away the following morning. It's important to understand that Drayke didn't commit suicide; his life was tragically taken away.

This grievous incident sheds light on a school system that failed to protect a vulnerable child from relentless bullying and didn't equip him with the tools to confront the internal battle he was facing. It's heartbreaking to think that he couldn't even confide in his parents about the torment he endured.

Just two weeks before his passing, Drayke's sisters discovered him on the floor, with visible signs of physical abuse, including a black eye inflicted by one of his classmates. His parents have chosen to share his story on social networks, hoping to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of bullying and to advocate for change.

Parents, guardians, teachers, and caregivers—To all of you reading this story, fostering open and heartfelt conversations with your children about the profound significance of kindness, empathy, and the detrimental effects of bullying is of utmost importance. Listen to them and be vigilant about their well-being.

This tragedy should serve as a stark reminder that we must collectively work to end the cycle of bullying and ensure the safety and emotional well-being of every child. It's incumbent upon us to ask why a 12-year-old boy was subjected to physical assault for over a year and nobody did anything about it.

We also stand in solidarity with the #doitfordrayke campaign, aimed at combating and raising awareness about child bullying. It's high time we put an end to this senseless suffering.
