OKLAHOMA CITY — Parent Promise/Prevent Child Abuse held its annual Field of Flags Ceremony Monday, April 12th to honor Oklahoma children who lost their lives to child abuse or neglect.

Twenty-nine Oklahoma flags represented those children who died from abuse or neglect.

They said there are just under 16,000 child abuse cases this year in Oklahoma. Last year there were 15,000.

Last year there were 62 Oklahoma flags. Now they’re down to 29. They’re happy numbers are going down, but one is too many.

These flags represent children identified as child abuse victims by the Oklahoma Child Death Review Board in 2019.
The American flags represent thousands of children across the country who are victims of child abuse and neglect every year.
